Gabby Barrett is giving fans another preview of her highly anticipated sophomore album with the release of a tender new ballad, “Growin’ Up Raising You.”

The just-released track was co-written by Barrett, Jon Nite, Zach Kale, and Jimmy Robbins and shares the realities of navigating motherhood as a young parent. With two babies at home and another on the way, this is a subject Barrett knows quite well.

“We’ll get it wrong, we’ll get it right/ Whole lot of tears, we both have to cry/ You’ll learn to run, I’ll learn to let go/ Years will go fast, nights will go slow/ Lord knows the best thing that I’ll ever do/ Will be growin’ up raising you,” she sings on the chorus.

The multi-platinum star deeply connects with “Growin’ Up Raising You” and admits it’s a “very sensitive song” for her.

“I’m only 23 – I don’t have all the answers to everything, and I haven’t gotten everything figured out,” Barrett shared in a statement. “I’m doing the best that I can while trying to raise other people to be the best people they can be. I feel so blessed to be able to have three little lives that I can help to flourish while I’m also trying to figure out life myself.”

Due to the personal nature of the song, Barrett chose to showcase a photo of her mother, Pam Barrett, on the single art. Captured on Halloween in the year 2000, the sweet family snapshot features Pam lovingly gazing at baby Gabby, who is dressed up in a pumpkin costume for Halloween.

New Album, Chapter & Verse

“Growin’ Up Raising You” will be featured on Chapter & Verse, out on February 2, 2024 via Warner Music Nashville. The project, which has been confirmed to be Barrett’s most autobiographical work to date, also includes the recently released “Cowboy Back” as well as her chart-climbing single, “Glory Days.”

Now sitting inside the Top 30 at country radio, “Glory Days” finds the powerhouse vocalist reflecting on the importance of living in the moment and encouraging listeners to never take the little things for granted.  Barrett co-wrote “Glory Days” with Emily Weisband, Seth Mosley, and James McNair.

Meaning Behind The Album Title

This new project was co-produced by Barrett alongside Ross Copperman and will dive deeper into her experience as a wife, mother, and more. The title, Chapter & Verse, alludes to the sections and passages found in each book of the Bible, mirroring the ongoing chapters in her marriage, family, career, and the broader narrative of her life journey.

“I’m way more intentionally connected to these songs than my first album, I would say. Every song moves me in a certain way, and it’s just me grown up. The past years that I’ve lived, I’ve lived a lot of years in a short amount of time. It’s grown up, it’s fresh, and I’m hoping people really can resonate with it,” she recently told Entertainment Tonight.

Chapter & Verse will also feature songs co-written by Miranda Lambert and Luke Combs.

“I’m a big fan of his. He pitched me a song not too long ago,” Gabby Barrett explained of Combs during an appearance on Country Countdown USA. “As soon as I heard it, I was like it really strikes a chord with me. I’m definitely gonna put it on my next album coming out later this year. He was very adamant about the song and me recording it. I think it’s an awesome song, and it’s coming out this year.”

The Pennsylvania native is equally excited to have had the opportunity to work with Lambert on the project.

In an interview with Audacy’s Katie & Company, Barrett shared, “Miranda’s awesome. She’s just super laid back and just so chill and nice to be around and very real of a person, which is really nice to see in the industry, especially as a female being very real and not about the drama and the jealousy and this and that,” she added during a recent Q&A with fans on Instagram Live. “So, the song is more of a slower song, and it will be about Texas. That’s all I can say.”
